Digital help from technologists.

Portland Digital Corps was a civic tech sprint that launched in March 2025 and asked local technologists to contribute their skills to local nonprofits and other groups. We helped 6 different organizations with projects around the state and over 100 people participated through our events, volunteering and communications.

For an event that mostly was built over a weekend, it's an exercise in proving what you can do when you just try something, ask for help and bring people together.

Join us for our final event

Come hear from our project teams, meet our partners, recap the lessons learned, and put a bow on this first cohort of the Digital Corps.

How It Worked

1. Identified the need

We scoped bite-sized projects with clear deliverables that could ship in weeks, not months.

2. Built expert teams

Designers, developers, and PMs formed cross-functional teams matched to project needs.

3. Shipped real solutions

No endless meetings. No vague promises. Just focused work that delivered results.

How We Tried to Help

We worked with nonprofits, government entities, and community groups on digital projects that had been stuck on the back burner.

What we helped with:

  • Fixing broken websites and forms
  • Making digital tools more usable
  • Creating simple tools for specific needs
  • Digital accessibility improvements

What we didn't do:

  • Ongoing maintenance or hosting
  • Marketing, branding, or fundraising
  • Full website redesigns or rebuilds
  • Enterprise-scale software development

How do I fork this in my community?

A lot of people have asked us how they can do this where they live. We'd love to share our final documents with you.

Email us and we'll get you some details, or you can talk to one of our cohort volunteers about what we learned and how you might adapt it for your area.
